Crafted from classic Kenyan varietals SL28 and SL34, the coffee's standout flavour profile is created through an extended eight-day Carbonic Maceration process. Hand-sorted red cherries are fermented in sealed tanks filled with carbon dioxide under carefully controlled temperature and humidity, pushing forward stone fruit and tropical notes alongside a rich fudge sweetness. After fermentation, the beans are washed and thinly spread over raised beds to dry for 14 days, resulting in a cup characterized by pristine clarity, balanced sweetness, and juicy acidity.
Grown by the dedicated members of the Aguthi Farmer’s Co-operative Society, this coffee represents the combined efforts of around 450 local smallholder producers (350 men and 100 women) working through the Thageini Wet Mill. The co-op supports its members with hands-on training in farm management and precise harvesting. Since 2017, our coffee importer Project Origin has partnered with the co-op to invest directly in local infrastructure, funding a new setup for advanced processing techniques.
A great choice for filter brewing methods such as Pour Over or Moccamaster, as well as through a French Press or Aeropress.
